St Peter Port Christmas Lights acting chairwoman Jax Robin said: ‘The light switch-on is a magical start to the festive season.’

The parade will start at the Model Yacht Pond at 3.45pm when Father Christmas arrives courtesy of the Guernsey Fire & Rescue.

From Boatworks+ the parade will go around the Model Yacht Pond, down Castle Emplacement and along the Bus Terminus into Fountain Street before finishing at the Market Buildings at 4.45pm.

For those who would prefer to wait in Market Square, entertainment will start at 4pm hosted by IslandFM, with music from the Guernsey Mind Hope Choir.

Following the light switch on, Father Christmas and his elves will continue through the Arcade, onto the High Street and down the Pollet.

Mark Marshall from sponsors Insurance Corporation said: ‘We are very proud to be involved in bringing the magic of Christmas to Guernsey.’

Every year the Christmas Lights charity raises £36,000 for the festive display.

Due to the need to redevelop the infrastructure, it is looking to raise an additional £25,000 over the next three years.

Jumpman Gaming has kick-started the fundraising with a £2,000 donation.
