WATCH: Guernsey Electricity van goes up in flames
A GUERNSEY electricity van went up in flames this morning.
Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service were called to the van fire in Rue De La Saline, Castel at 9.11am.
'We got called to a vehicle fire this morning,' said Guernsey Fire & Rescue crew commander Nick Affleck.
'Due to the vehicle holding flammables and electrical equipment we used foam to fully extinguish the fire and used breathing apparatus in case of toxicity.
'The vehicle is completely written off.
'We can't ascertain what started the fire yet until we have done some investigations.'
The van fire was just outside Les Residences apartments in Cobo, formerly the Hotel Les Carterets.
Work has been happening at the electricity sub-station.
No injuries were reported.
Guernsey Electricity has been approached for comment.
