ICON Awards 2024 – All You Need to Know

What are the ICON Awards? 

The ICON Awards, hosted by the Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce, are an annual celebration recognizing the outstanding achievements and talent within Inverclyde's business community. Known as "Inverclyde's premier business event," the awards highlight exceptional local businesses. Last year, 11 winners emerged from a field of 75 entrants, and we look forward to honouring even more remarkable winners this year.

Do I need to be an Inverclyde Chamber Member?

 No, the awards are open to all businesses, regardless of Chamber membership. As long as your business is registered and operates in Inverclyde and you meet the category criteria, you're eligible to apply.

Can I nominate myself or does someone else have to do it? 

You can nominate yourself, apply on behalf of your business, or have someone else nominate you. This applies to all categories.

What are the Award Categories?

How do I enter, and how long is the application process? 

Each application form is designed specifically for a particular category. Visit the ICON Awards webpage and navigate to the 'Application Forms' section to choose and download the form for the category you are interested in. Once you complete the form, send it to marketing@inverclydechamber.co.uk

The application is short and requires the following information:

  • Your contact details.
  • Business name, background details, and links to the company website/social media pages.
  • A brief supporting statement detailing why you should be shortlisted for the chosen category (Max 300 words).
  • Answers to award-specific questions demonstrating how your entry aligns with the category criteria (Max 300 words).

Can I enter more than one category?

 Yes, you can enter up to three categories. However, you need to complete a separate application form for each category. Make sure each supporting statement is tailored to match the specific category you are applying for.

Which category should I enter? 

Consult the criteria for each category to determine which one aligns with your business. You can also contact us for an informal chat to find the best category for you. Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.

Who are this year's ICON Awards sponsors?

When is the deadline for entries? 

Entries will close at midnight on Friday 31st May 2024. Any entries submitted after this time will not be considered.

What happens once entries have closed? 

After entries close, every application in each category will be reviewed by a panel of judges consisting of representatives from the award sponsors and ICC Board members, who are well-respected in their fields. From this process, a shortlist of two finalists in each category will be selected and announced on Wednesday, 12th June. After the shortlist is announced, there will be a final deliberation to determine the category winner, who will be announced at the awards ceremony in September.

When will I hear if I have been successful in being shortlisted? 

A shortlist of two entrants in each category will be selected as finalists. We aim to inform all applicants of the outcome on 12th June 2024.

What do I get as a finalist? 

As a finalist, you'll enjoy premium visibility and exclusive perks! Your business will be featured prominently on our website and social media platforms, with special press releases leading up to the event. Expect to be highlighted in our videos and printed programs on Awards Night. Additionally, the spotlight continues even after the event with more coverage on the ICC website and newsletter.

Plus, each finalist receives two complimentary tickets to the ICON Awards ceremony, with the option to purchase additional seats for your team or guests. It's your time to stand out, connect, and celebrate. Don't miss this opportunity to showcase your business and be part of something amazing!

When is the Awards Ceremony? 

The ICON Awards Ceremony will take place at Greenock Town Hall on Friday, 20th September. It's going to be a night to remember, so we encourage you to dress to impress as we celebrate in style!

Guests will be welcomed with a drink and treated to a delicious three-course meal. You can also look forward to a night full of dancing, entertainment, and fundraising as we raise money for our charity partner, Ocean Youth Trust.
